David Winston, President
David H. Winston is President and founder of The Winston Group. His unique experience has provided him with a multifaceted view of national politics and public policy unmatched by other political consultants. Aside from his extensive work with political campaigns, Winston has also served as senior leadership staff in Congress and as a senior fellow to a prominent Washington , DC think tank. This unusual combination of political and policy experience has helped shape the manner in which Winston approaches problem solving, which has led to his emergence as one of the most trusted political and policy consultants in Washington, DC.

During his four year tenure working with former House Republican Conference Chair JC Watts, 34 million more Americans developed a favorable view of House Republicans, with their approval numbers rising from 36% in 1998 to 53% in 2002.

Preceding that, he was the Director of Planning for the Speaker of the House, where he oversaw initiatives ranging from education, taxes, Social Security, health care, and technology, to the 21st Century Congress. He was also a member of the federal web-based Education Commission.

Additionally, Winston was a Senior Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, one of the leading conservative public policy think tanks in the country. There he was involved in writing policy papers on topics such as health care, tax policy and agricultural issues.

On an international level, the European Ideas Network, a public policy think tank that works with politicians and strategists from the center-right parties of the European Parliament, brought Winston’s insight and political experience to Europe when they asked him to join their Demographics Task Force. He has also served the EIN as guest lecturer on Trans-Atlantic issues such as Euro-American relations. Other international experience includes conducting public opinion and market research in various foreign nations, including Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

Winston was an adjunct Professor at the Communications College at American University and has lectured at MIT, Georgetown, William and Mary, George Washington University and the National War College. He also teaches campaign strategy at the Campaign Management Institute at American University.

Winston is a columnist for the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call, and was the former polling editor for PollTrack of PoliticsNow, the political website for ABC News, Washington Post, and National Journal. He appears frequently on a variety of national and cable news programs, and has written for a variety of publications including the International Wall Street Journal, the Brookings Review, the Brown Journal of World Affairs and The Washington Post. He has done election analysis for Voter News Service and CBS News.

He was a contributor to two recently published books - "Digital Democracy and the New Age of Reason" in Democracy and the New Media ed. Henry Jenkins and David Thorburn; assoc. ed Brad Sewall (Cambridge: MIT Press, 2003) 133-142, and "Flying Colors: Americans after September 11" in United We Serve: National Service and the Future of Citizenship ed. EJ Dionne Jr., Kayla Meltzer Drogosz, and Robert E. Litan (Washington: Brookings Institution Press, 2003) 90-93.

Winston served as Chief Information Officer for the Republican National Committee under four chairmen, beginning with the late Lee Atwater.

He is married to Chriss Winston, the first and only woman to head the Office of Speechwriting for a President of the United States, under George Bush Sr. He has one son, Ian.

Myra Miller, Senior Vice President
Miller joined the Winston Group in February 2001. Prior to joining the Winston Group, she served as Political Director for the Alabama Republican Party. During her tenure at the Alabama Republican Party, Republicans made record gains, winning ten out of eleven statewide races as well as many first-time victories at the district and county levels.

Miller received a Masters degree in International Politics from the University of Cambridge. She studied at Cambridge as a British Foreign Office Chevening Scholar where she was actively involved with the Centre of International Studies, serving on university delegations to foreign governments and international policy groups.

Kristen Soltis, Project Director
Kristen Soltis joined the Winston Group in May 2005. Soltis' political experience includes interning with the National Republican Congressional Committee's Finance Department and working with a Virginia House of Delegates race. She has also worked with the Citizen's Access Project, a venture run through the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications, which seeks to educate the public on freedom of information to local government information across the country.

Soltis recieved her Bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Florida in December 2005, where she participated in the University Scholars Program, conducting extensive research on campaign finance reform and congressional politics.

Chris Anderson , Project Director
Chris Anderson joined the Winston Group in January 2007. Anderson specializes in technology issues and has previously worked for Apple. His political experience includes an internship in the office of Rep. Geoff Davis (R - KY).
Anderson received Bachelor degrees in both Government and English from Georgetown University in 2006.
